Varves piled up in succession for as long as 70,000 years have not been found anywhere in the world except Lake Suigestu. This is why Lake Suigetsu has been called “a lake of miracle”. This miracle was made possible by many accidental factors peculiar to Lake Suigestu such as unique geology, geographical feature and habitat environment of living creature. In this section, the mechanism that created unique varves is described. We also screen the video filmed by underwater drone showing you the process of how varves have been formed in the lake bed.
